What a long, strange trip it's been…

After SHS went to Wentworth Institute of Technology, a really small junior college in Boston (the best college town in the country).  From there a contingent of us went off to Arizona State University, which was basically a 4 month vacation.  After sitting out a semester I graduated from Purdue University, located in beautiful downtown God’s Country, Indiana.  Spent 3 years working in North Carolina and the economy started to tank in 1982, so what do you do then?  Go back to college, what else.

The University of Florida had a master’s program in building construction so off I went.  Spent 2 years in Gainesville to complete a 1 year program. But boy, did I have a good time.  Settled into South Florida and ended up in Rat Town (the home of Mickey) in 1994.  Started a general contacting firm that I sold to my business partner in 2004, no more whiney employees, and then started a consulting practice.  People actually pay me for my opinion!

While rollin’ down highway 95 I heard the patron saint of Florida say “I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast.”  Now that’s something I can relate to.

P.S.  Go Gators!!!

Comment: Hey Guys, Here's a quick summary of my post high school days. I spent 4 years in the US Navy, mostly overseas and on an aircraft carrier. Retired 2 years ago after 24 years as an air traffic controller in the FAA. Worked all over the country at various facilities both tower and radar. Every now and then, my old buddy and classmate, Matt Swanson would come flying through my airspace and we'd get to catch up while on the frequency. Spent my last 12 years in Ashburn, VA at the Washington ARTCC in Leesburg before retiring to SW florida. I starting playing tennis at 40 and have been playing almost every day ever since. I play in the USTA in several leagues, tournaments and events. I was fortunate enough to play flag football until age 49 and loved every minute of it. I also started playing the drums again at age 40 and played in several DC area bands ranging from jam bands to classic rock to new wave. I've been married to my awesome wife Karen for 25 years and we have two wonderful sons aged 20 (Jared) and 18 (Jeremy). We really enjoy the fabulous southwest Florida lifestyle. I happily look forward to catching up with as many of you as possible at the reunion. Best wishes!
