From Alan:After completing college in upstate New York, I started work at Motorola in sunny Arizona. My 5 year experiment turned into a nearly 30 year career! I relocated to Austin, Texas in 1995 with Motorola ... which then became Freescale Semiconductor.

Our home in New Jersey was sold and my parents moved to North Carolina. On one of my visits to North Carolina, I met Brigitta Gucker (Van Dillen) and tried to get caught up on 20 years over some North Carolina BBQ!

I planned several group ski trips to Colorado and Utah. On one of those trips I got a chance to ski with Scott Johnson at Alta. The ski area conditions were great and so was Scott's skiing!

I also ran into Maurice Kelly during a Colorado River rafting trip through the Grand Canyon ... what are the chances of that happening!

I wish I could have attended the 35th year reunion, but some competing travel prevented that. It looks like y'all had a great time.

From Maurice:WHAT I DID ON MY 35 YEAR SUMMER VACATION - by M. Kelly

1) Graduated from Villanova.

2) Became an American citizen (was a British subject prior to that).

3) Started out working for an actuarial firm ( Walton Simons ...if you're up there, just shake your head and grin !)

4) Studied guitar with the late great Dave Van Ronk.

5) Started losing my hair.

6) Worked on Wall Street ( REALLY, REALLY started losing my hair - but never my shirt !! ).

7) Competed in US Masters swimming.

8) Joined a musical club called "The Off Wall Street Jam" and played in various "alt country" bands at NYC venues such as the Lone Star Roadhouse , Red Lion, Knitting Factory, etc.....

9) Got kicked out of all of the aforementioned venues after the third song, or soon thereafter ..(nah , just kidding !!).

10) Met my wonderful wife (Lynn) over the course of several summers in Shelter Island, New York.

11) Took a hiking/rafting trip with my future spouse to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, proceeded to get stung by a bark scorpion, became ill, and initially thought I was having a SHS homeroom hallucination/ flashback because I kept seeing visions of Alan Kaiser......until I realized it really WAS Alan standing there, in the flesh, at the bottom of the Canyon !! All in all, a very cool mini reunion ...and Alan, if you're reading this - you did a great job of steering the raft through those class 4-5 rapids !!

12) Spent several years living/working in Connecticut ( Yes folks, it's true - Hartford REALLY is the filing cabinet of the Northeast ) .

13) Settled back in Montclair, NJ.

14) Had a beautiful daughter (Caroline) ....who LOVES to ride horses.

15) Currently managing a pension product platform for a very well known US Financial Services firm.

16) Greatly enjoying my life/family and humbly thankful for everything thus far.

What can I say, 35 years on… First and foremost I am the proud father of my wonderful 12 year old daughter Clare. Sheila and I were married 14 years before she was born, now 26 years and counting. Our wedding day was the best day of my life (and probably the worst of Sheila’s) other than the day Clare was born. We have been in West Orange for 7 years plus and love it. Before that, 5 years in the wilderness of central Illinois. In Monmouth County before that move, close to Hazlet where Sheila grew up (Raritan HS class of ’75).

After SHS, a year and a half at Geddis Taxi, trying to figure out what to do with “the rest of my life”. Bachelors degree at Kean in Industrial Arts Education, graduated with honors (barely). I taught for two years, first in Paterson at PCCC, one of the greatest working years of my life, then a year at Cedar Grove Memorial HS, probably the worst working year of my life. So now I have a teaching degree and hate teaching, what next? I took a job as a Prototype Model Maker and found out I was really good at it. Making things from scratch was fun and rewarding. After six years I was offered a job running the prototype shop at Frigidaire’s Home Comfort Division in Edison. One thing leads to another and I find myself in product development. 23 years later, I am now what one of my friends in the air conditioning biz calls “an industry veteran”.

Spare time is spent cross-country skiing (see the pic with Clare at Prospect Mountain near Bennington VT), cycling and trying to prevent myself from becoming what Clare refers to as “Big Fat Daddy”. Family is relatively close, Jack with his partner Buck in West Hartford, CT, Tracy, her husband Chris and their 2 boys in Berkeley Heights, Christy and husband John live on their organic farm in Wawarsing, NY.

So, since I wrote the above, our 35th reunion, my 27th anniversary and Clare's 13th birthday have passed. What a great reunion, great turn out, great to see everyone looking so good. Funny how quickly the weekend passed. Here's to seeing everyone in 5 years time, Tom
